Uttar Pradesh has been one of the pioneering states to launch an Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility (EVMM) Policy in August 2019. However, the EV industry has evolved manifold in last few years and multiple initiatives have been taken by Government of India to promote the sector in India, the Government of Uttar Pradesh decided to launch a New Electric Vehicle Manufacturing & Mobility Policy in 2022 adapting to the current trends. The policy aims to promote adoption of sustainable and clean mobility solutions and infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh and become one of India’s leading state for electric vehicles adoption. It also envisions to emerge as one of the India’s preferred investment destination for EV ecosystem globally. UP government is giving 100% exemption in electric vehicle registration fees and road tax. Below are the detail of policy.
The UP government wants to promote electric vehicle. In order to achieve this Uttar Pradesh government is also giving the subsidy on purchase of new electric vehicle. This policy covers all automobiles that use electric motor that is driven by either batteries, ultra-capacitors, or fuel cells. This policy includes all two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, Strong Electric Vehicles (HEVs), Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV). Subsidy on new electric vehicle purchase as given below.
The incentive provided by the uttar pradesh govenment are in the addition to the subsidy provided by trhe Central Government for purchase of new electric vehicle which will reduce the two wheeler cost by Rs 15,000 to 20,000 on-road and cars by upto Rs 1 Lakh.
The scope of policy is big and applicable all the electric vehicle using an electric motor that is driven by either batteries, ultra-capacitors, or fuel cells. This includes all 2-wheeler, 3- wheeler and 4-wheeler Strong Electric Vehicles (HEVs), Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV), Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV).
